A single photo of a tile says little about how a natural stone works across a whole floor. That is why Colour of Stone now has a 3D showroom: a virtual room in which you can take a good look at the tile you have in mind – in the format you want, with the surface you prefer and in the laying pattern of your choice.
What you can adjust in the showroom
The showroom shows a furnished living space whose floor is covered with the tile you select. You choose the material, the format – for example 30.5 x 30.5 cm, 61 x 30.5 cm or 40 x 40 cm –, the surface (polished, honed or brushed) and the laying pattern: straight joint, half bond or third bond. Every change is applied to the room straight away, so you can see immediately whether a floor looks calm or lively.
Change the perspective or simply watch
You can look around the room: move closer, step back, turn the viewing angle or switch between the standard, bird’s-eye and worm’s-eye view. If you do not click anything, a short automatic tour of the room is shown. The icon in the top right switches the showroom to full screen – which is worth doing, because the larger the area you see, the better you can judge the effect of the stone.
Straight from the tile into the room
You will find the showroom in the menu under Service → Showroom. It is even quicker from the shop: tiles that are already available in the showroom carry a small 3D symbol in the top right of the product image – both in the shop overview and on the product page. One click opens the room with exactly that tile. And if you add tiles to your wish list using the heart, they are offered to you directly in the showroom.
Not all tiles are included yet
For a natural stone to look real in a room, a product photo is not enough. Every tile needs a specially prepared surface: a seamlessly repeatable texture that reproduces the colour, veining and structure of the stone at the correct scale – separately for each type of surface. We prepare this stone by stone. That is why the showroom starts with a selection of our natural stones and we are adding more step by step. You can tell which tiles are already included by the 3D symbol in the shop – the selection keeps growing, so it is worth looking again.
Colours on screen remain an approximation
Natural stone is a natural product: colour and veining vary from slab to slab, and every screen displays colours slightly differently. The 3D view helps you with format, laying pattern and overall effect – for the final decision on colour we still recommend ordering a sample tile in advance and looking at it in daylight where it is to be laid.
