A surface that is cleaved on both sides is uneven, rough and not glossy. The difference in elevation and indentation can be several millimetres. Slight scratching in daily use is not a defect. Depending on the mineral content and mineral distribution, differences in a surface are possible with the same processing.

Porto slate is a beautiful but rather delicate natural stone. With this very noble, black-grey clay slate, slight chipping and scratches may occur. This is not a defect for this slate. This great slate is quarried in Portugal, east of the city of Porto.

 

This natural stone is not frost and acid resistant. It is perfectly suited for interior use. With the appropriate sensitivity and knowledge, this natural stone can also be used in other areas.
